Play Bridge At Sea invites you to a free webinar Sunday, March 21, 1pm Pacific/4pm Eastern for a discussion with Shakespeare scholar and actor Armin Shimerman about his new novel Illyria, Betrayal of Angels. Set during the reign of Elizabeth I, Illyria is a romantic political mystery combining the historical persons of John Dee and William Shakespeare, with the fictional characters of Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night. Armin Shimerman, best known for his roles as Quark on Star Trek Deep Space 9 and Principal Snyder on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, is also an accomplished author, Bard scholar, and Professor of Shakespeare at the University of Southern California. He has appeared on Broadway: Joe Papp’s Three Penny Opera, Circle-in-the-Square’s St. Joan, Richard Rodgers’ I Remember Mama, and George Abbott’s Broadway. Selected Los Angeles Theatre: Discord and Hughie (with Brian Dennehy) at the Geffen Theatre, Birthday Party at the Matrix Theater (LA Drama Critics Circle Nom. Lead Performance); the Madwoman of Chaillot at A Noise Within Theatre; Richard II at the Mark Taper Forum. At Antaeus Theatre, he teaches Shakespeare, co-directed the Crucible, and recently Measure for Measure. TV: - 80 different Guest Star roles, including Antaeus the Nox on Stargate, Principal Snyder on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Judge Hooper on Boston Legal, and more recently on CSI, Castle, and Timeless. Two years ago, he was nominated for a daytime Emmy for his performance in the web-series, Red Bird. In addition, he is a novelist with Simon & Schuster with his trilogy The Merchant Prince. His period mystery, Prospero’s Intelligence, will be published this fall by Jumpmaster Press. As a voice-over artist, his work with the ensembles for Maltese Falcon and Zorro was nominated for Grammys. In the field of games, he has done over two dozen, but has gotten kudos for his voicing of Dr. Nefarious in the Ratchet and Clank franchise as well as Andrew Ryan in the Bioshock series. He has been happily married to Kitty Swink for over 35 years – unquestionably his greatest achievement. Advanced Two Over One Class To Be Offered in January

A package of four sessions will be taught Saturdays- at 2PM Eastern Time on January 9, January 16, January 23 and January 30. One registration gets all 4. Classes cannot be sold individually. The Advanced Two Over One online bridge lesson series is a four part series that will include 1D/2C, splinter bids, control bids, and the non-serious 3NT. It is recommended that you have a knowledge of the fundamentals of 2/1 in order to participate. The ACBL certified teachers are Giorgia Botta, Christopher Rivera and John Ramos.
