Penalty Doubles: Knowing When to Punish the Opponents In bridge, there are two kinds of doubles: penalty doubles and takeout doubles. Knowing exactly which is which — and why — is one of the most important pieces of knowledge a partnership can have. The cleanest way to approach this is with a clear, organized list: know which doubles are penalty, and everything else is takeout. This class will give your partnership exactly that. Many partnerships are fuzzy on this distinction, and that fuzziness costs them. When the opponents make a mistake, the biggest opportunity for a great result is often to punish them — and you can only do that if you and your partner are on the same page about when a double is for penalty and when it is for takeout. In this interactive online class, Corey Krantz will walk through each and every penalty double so that your partnership will know with confidence which doubles are penalty, which are takeout, and precisely why. We will also cover card-showing doubles at high levels and clarify how to recognize and act on the many opportunities that arise to put the opponents to the test. Throughout the class, you will be given decisions in the auction and will also have the opportunity to work on your declarer play and defense. Your class link will be provided in your confirmation.
